The Motion of Rain

Rain! Yesterday we had a lovely rain here in the San Francisco Bay Area. The first of the season on the Fall season's first day. Soft cool rain cleansed the air and by the late afternoon the early taste of Fall sparkled in the clear air. Symbols? What did the day symbolize? Motion. The theme of motion, which many don't even realize is a significant aspect, symbol, in our lives. Rain, as the motion symbol of the day yesterday, first invited me into a quiet inner space. A place of bringing my motion to quietness for a while. Yes, motion symbolizes moving forward as well as the times we need to bring our motion to stillness; to quiet the self and feel the motion on the inner. Then, during the third shower of the day and bundled in my rain clothes, I took one of my favorite walks. Feeling the gentle cool drops on my uplifted face, the motion of that coupled with my rhythmic walking gave space for a new awareness. This one involved a communication that I must complete during the new season; a season of harvest, which is a season for completion.
